Rodan Builders proudly completed a major two-phase modernization and expansion project at Marylin Avenue STEAM Academy in September 2025 for the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. Designed to enhance both learning environments and overall campus functionality, the project represents a significant investment in the future of STEAM education for Livermore students. The work was carefully executed in two increments, bringing both immediate site improvements and long-term instructional upgrades to the school community.
Increment 1 included demolition of three existing relocatable buildings, site grading, and a wide range of campus enhancements. These improvements included a safer and more efficient drop-off entry zone, upgraded parking lot lighting, EV charging stations, new fencing and gates, exterior paint and cladding updates, walkway covers, fire alarm upgrades, and new HVAC systems across existing buildings. Together, these upgrades improved accessibility, safety, and comfort for students and staff alike.
Increment 2 focused on new construction and modernization of key instructional spaces. A brand-new classroom building was added, featuring two general classrooms, two TK classrooms, and support spaces. The project also expanded the library with the addition of two classrooms and a research center, while an existing science classroom was transformed into a modern STEAM learning space. Additional improvements included electrical and lighting upgrades, fire alarm enhancements, and door panel replacements. The exterior improvements included a new TK play yard, upgraded outdoor learning areas, and new planting, irrigation, and bioretention features.
When students returned to campus and saw the completed transformation, their excitement was immediate and heartfelt. Many took the time to create thank-you notes and drawings for the construction team, a testament to the positive impact the project made. Principal, Joe Meunier, shared his gratitude, writing in his Farewell Letter to our team,
“The scope of this project has been transformative for our campus… each upgrade has made a meaningful difference in the way our students and staff experience school each day.”
He also extended special thanks to the Rodan team members who were on-site throughout the work, noting how much the school community would miss them.
