Rodan Builders was contracted to convert designated area to become new IDF room.
Normally this would be a general Tenant Improvement, however the airport is taking back certain sections that were previously used by customs officers. Every worker had to be vetted by the Customs Border Patrol (CBP), then escorted during construction. One of the modifications made was to seal off an existing holding cell. Also, a new reinforced CMU wall was put in placed of the old opening and new one was cut.
The entire room had to be reinforced with 9 gauge metal lath and covered with half inch plywood. Modifications also included installing a new cooling system, electrical and communication systems. Security grills in the duct work were the final security measures take to secure the site.
Scheduling on this project was difficult due to the fact that no work was allowed while incoming international flights were being processed by CBP.
